Mr. Walsh has over 28 years of experience in the Alaska petroleum exploration and production industry, with a diversified background ranging from basin analysis and lease sale assessment to production well planning and reservoir production modeling.
Tom has been involved in the exploration, appraisal, or development phase of many of the major fields in North Alaska, including: Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk, Endicott, Pt. McIntyre, Milne Point, and Niakuk. He has managed 2D and 3D seismic acquisition and processing projects at Prudhoe Bay and Milne Point.
Tom’s current interests focus on 3D seismic interpretation, and 3D reservoir modeling, and he is very proficient with all the current tools available to perform this type of work. Along with Tom’s extensive geoscience work on the North Slope, he has also worked many of Alaska’s interior basins (Nenana, Copper River, Kandik, Yukon Flats, Susitna) and has recently been involved in Cook Inlet studies.

Tom’s current interests focus on resource assessment of gas hydrate accumulations, and he served as Principal Investigator on a recently completed study of the resource potential of gas hydrates associated with the Barrow Gas Fields on the North Slope of Alaska. Tom is managing partner of Petrotechnical Resources of Alaska, LLC, and has technical and administrative oversight responsibility for 75+ professional oil and gas consultants.
7/97 TO PRESENT – OIL AND GAS CONSULTANT, PETROTECHNICAL RESOURCES OF ALASKA, LLC.
Principal Investigator on a study of gas hydrate resource potential associated with the Barrow Gas Fields completed in June of 2008. Led a diverse team of geoscientists and engineers in this integrated study, which broke new ground in the field of hydrate resource assessment. Completed a study of basin architecture and seismic stratigraphy in the Yukon Flats Basin for the U.S.G.S. Performing prospect analysis for independent clients in interior Alaska, and on the North Slope. Provided seismic interpretation and mapping training and support for Kuparuk Field onsite geoscience staff. Member of a multidisciplinary team managing the development of the Gas Storage Area of the Kuparuk River Field. Assessed the petroleum potential of a frontier interior Alaskan basin and assisted in designing a seismic acquisition program. Assisting a regional native corporation in marketing their lands in several interior Alaskan basins. Designed a lease sale/exploration licensing plan for the Alaska Mental Health Trust Lands Office for their Cook Inlet Basin properties. Supervised construction of a 3D reservoir model for the Schrader Bluff Fm. in the Milne Point Field. Providing consulting support for independent oil and gas producers entering the North Slope market.
